Our Christmas Dancing Ballerina

What is more precious than this?

2013-12-13_0001Little girls in tutus:

This is a softer side to my wild little free spirit:

She wants to do and tackle so much:

God has blessed her with the heart and energy to do it:

But on this day in this moment, it is ballet:

And we love watching her…

And sometimes you are reminded that these are fleeting moments….

And you try to hold time still, a little harder …

She is growing up….

(Seriously, look at that pose…. always in character)

Nothing prettier than a happy girl:

WWhat will tomorrow be?

“Don”t ever let anyone tell you can’t do something, not even me. You gotta dream. You gotta protect it. When people can’t do something themselves, they are going to tell you that you can’t do it. You want something, you go get it. Period.”

Fall Pep Rally 2013

Last night, Caleb participated in his first Middle School Pep Rally.

Oh, Boy…. Have we been looking forward to this.

A few years ago, we started going to the Pep Rallies.

Each time, we would always say, “Can’t wait till Caleb can be part of that!”

They do such a great job. We have amazing coaches, thank God, that LOVE our kids and the sports program.

We LOVE sports, like ALL of them, so this is right up our allie.

I love the band, the cheerleaders, the energy, and all our “cute” athletes…. Yes, I said CUTE. I know that they would not prefer that adjective, but I cannot help myself. They look sooooo cute all dressed with numbers standing with their teammates. It is just too much, really too much.

Last night, my favorite part just happened to be the introduction of the Middle School Football Players. Particularly, this one:

Fat chance on getting him to smile and actually look at the camera….I’m ok with that. I get it. We are in Middle School now.

After all the teams had been introduced, they had a prayer in the Wagon Wheel led by our Head Varsity Football Coach:

And then….. The music started to “Lean on Me” …. and:

I have a feeling that the prior picture may end up on a senior video.

Caleb trying his hand at some moves:

Caleb doesn’t get a lot from his Mom, but I proudly claim his dance moves… yep those are my gene.

And then, some varsity players ran out and started dancing in the middle:

That’s all it took:

I get the feeling that I am about to watch a movie, one I have been waiting and waiting to watch. I am in the chair, the lights have lowered, and my hand is aiming at the popcorn bucket. Chills….

Oh, and they have the BEST cheerleader too:

So fun! Loved watching all of this and yes, we have been waiting for this.

A delayed 4rth of July Celebration

Uncle Chad may have started something….

Last year, he got fireworks and gave us a great show for the 4rth.

This year, even though we were not in Alabama for the 4rth, the kids shamelessly asked if Uncle Chad could give us another fireworks show.

He delivered!

Papa and Chad setting it all up:

“Life is like fireworks. You can close your eyes and be scared or open your eyes and enjoy the view.”

Author Unknown, but sounds very Forrest Gumpish to me

Blog Lovin

I love to blog. I really really, like really do.

However, I seem to have less and less time for it.

I don’t live to blog.

But when I get a chance, I drool at capturing life and documenting it.

I get lost in going back through all the photos and memories… So, I make myself keep up at least a little bit.

I know one day that these little blog moments will be a treasure to me. So I keep on with it…

With that said…..

We have had a whirlwind of a Summer that is sadly coming to a close.  All things must come to an end, they say, right?

This summer, we have been  staying at Mimi’s house while our house is being built. And I tell you it has been rough!

I mean really…. Somebody had to swim in the pool. Might as well have been us, right?

We really did not want them to feel bad about having it and all, so we did our part….

I think Mimi and Grandpa appreciated our help.

It’s a hard life, you know getting spoiled every single day by those that adore you.

But hey, someone had to eat all those treats.

It would be an injustice to society if they were wasted.

And who says it builds character if you are told no once in a while??? It hasn’t been documented, has it?

Nah, I did not think so.

Thank you Mimi and Grandpa for blessing us with a home in between homes! You are angels for putting up with all of us. At least we are cute, right:

“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”

Last 5th Grade Band Performance

So Proud of these guys.

It is truly amazing to see how far these guys had come. Most had not picked up an instrument until the first day of band.

And, they can actually play pretty good now.

It is truly something special to witness.

And can I tell you how much they have had doing it??? Caleb has loved Band. I did not see that coming.

I actually love Caleb’s expression here:

I would say he looks like that about 50% of the performance… Like he is holding in a huge laugh. Being 11 is so much fun….
